Vision:
Why do Christian families outsource the faith formation of their children to “professionals” at church one hour a week? Because we have failed to clarify that lifelong faith is best formed at home. So, at Macedonia, we invest significant time, creativity and resources into informing and equipping our families to fulfill their God-ordained task of making their homes the primary place where faith is formed.
Worldwide, 9 out of 10 people will get married and have children. Therefore, most of us are called to worship God through the intimacy of marriage and the blessing of children. So, we must understand God’s purpose for marriage and family life. That purpose can be summarized as follows:
Show Christ: Every marriage is intended to be a masterpiece reflecting the marriage between God and His people (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 15, Jeremiah 3, Ephesians 5:22-33, Revelation 21:9).
Raise Believers: Those blessed with the gift of children are called to disciple the next generation as life’s greatest priority (Exodus 20, Deuteronomy 6, Psalm 78:1-8, Ephesians 6:1-4).
Be Jesus: A strong Christian family is where the Word becomes flesh and blood, as we conform our lives to the image and example of Christ. (John 1:14, Philippians 2, 1 Timothy 3, 1 John 3:16)
In light of these priorities we will consistently call people to:
Honor Marriage: To pursue a God-honoring marriage by giving themselves to a husband or wife through mutual submission and faithful devotion.
Pass the Faith: To intentionally disciple their own children and grandchildren by capturing and creating experiences that deepen the roots of faith.
Walk the Talk: To live their faith at home in ways that will attract the next generation and the next-door neighbor to Christ.
Strategy:
Our strategy for Faith@Home can be defined as follows: To make it easy and more likely for families to be intentional in practicing Faith@Home.
We want to accomplish this is by providing plenty of tools and resources you can use at home one simple step at a time. We don’t want to require lots of extra training and classes for you to attend here at church; taking time you already don’t have. We will provide opportunities to go deeper in some of these topics at church if you so choose, but we will also provide you with everything you need to make this a reality at home on your own.
The key component of our Faith@Home Strategy is called faith path
You can access all the Faith Path coaching and resources on the Faith Path page on this website, or by going to our Faith@Home Center at church. These resources are designed to inspire and equip you in building a God-honoring home, one step at a time.
We realize that every household has a different dynamic as well—which means that there needs to be customized tools and not a one-size-fits-all approach. So, we provide resources in nearly thirty different family seasons of life. Areas like: hoping to marry, single by choice, engaged, building a strong marriage, considering children, intentional parenting, blended families, single parenting, grand parenting, a troubled marriage, a troubled teen, a child with special needs, leading a child to Christ, preparing for adolescence, successfully launching young adults, grieving a loss, and so much more.
